Cubs 2016 – 100 Years

2016 saw the Cubs enjoy their 100th Birthday, which we celebrated with other Groups at Rhydd Covert Scout Camp.

Started as a pilot scheme in 1914 by Robert Baden Powell, Wolf Cubs officially began in December 1916.  In 1967 Wolf Cubs changed their name to Cub Scouts.  In 1991 girls were allowed to join the Cubs. Today there are 150,000 girls and boys enjoying the fun and adventure of Cubs.

On 16th December 2016 Cubs from all across the UK were invited to a Promise Party, to renew their promise and recite the Cub Scout law.

The Cub Scout Promise:

I promise that I will do my best
To do my duty to God and to the Queen
To help other people
And to keep the Cub Scout Law.

The Cub Scout Law:

Cub Scouts always do their best
Think of others before themselves
And do a good turn every day.
